Globe Life Data Breach Settlement: Up to $5,072, Claims Now Closed

A proposed settlement addresses claims that American Income Life Insurance Company and Globe Life didn't do enough to safeguard personal data during a security incident around October 2, 2024. According to the allegations, an unknown attacker threatened to leak customer and lead data unless the companies paid a ransom. Information that may have been exposed includes names, addresses, emails, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, health information, and health insurance policy details.

Both companies deny wrongdoing, and the settlement isn't an admission of fault.

You may be eligible if you received a notice from American Income Life or Globe Life saying your information could have been involved, roughly 532,578 people were notified.

Those who qualify can seek reimbursement for documented losses up to $5,000 and payment for up to four hours of time spent dealing with the aftermath. Class members who stay in the settlement (rather than opting out) can also get two years of credit monitoring.

To receive a cash payment, you'll need to file a claim. Credit monitoring doesn't require a claim, but you must activate it yourself once the settlement receives final approval.
