Audible Lawsuit Over Expiring Audiobook Credits: Proposed Class Action

A proposed nationwide class action accuses Audible of putting expiration dates on audiobook credits that customers expected to keep and use indefinitely. According to the lawsuit, these credits should legally count as 'gift certificates' under Washington law, and letting them expire, along with Audible's related marketing and disclosure practices, may violate Washington's Gift Certificate Law and Consumer Protection Act. Audible denies the allegations.

Importantly, this case has not settled. It's currently proceeding in court rather than arbitration, and no final ruling has been issued.

The plaintiffs are seeking to have the court certify a nationwide class covering U.S. residents whose Audible credits expired on or after December 4, 2020.
