Consumers claim in ongoing litigation that major beef processors worked together to restrict the beef supply and drive up prices they paid.
Two of the accused companies, Tyson and Cargill, already resolved their part of the case through separate settlements worth a combined $87.5 million. That deal received final court approval on May 27, 2026, and the deadline to file a claim was June 30, 2026, the official settlement website makes clear that late claims won't be accepted.
The larger multidistrict litigation, however, is still moving forward against the defendants who didn't settle, including JBS and National Beef. On July 16, 2026, the court certified a class of consumer indirect purchasers, clearing the way for their claims against these remaining companies to proceed. The defendants deny any wrongdoing.
Importantly, this certification doesn't reopen the Tyson or Cargill settlement claims, and it doesn't create any new claim form right now. But if you missed the earlier deadline, you may still have a shot at compensation down the road, should a new settlement or court judgment against the remaining defendants lead to another court-approved claims process.
