Dartmouth Data Breach Settlement: File by Oct 21, 2026 for Cash

Dartmouth sent breach notices in November 2025 after a lawsuit alleged that a criminal third party exploited a previously unknown ("zero-day") flaw in Oracle's EBS software to gain unauthorized access to an Oracle EBS application Dartmouth relied on. The suit claims this exposed Private Information belonging to certain individuals, potentially some mix of names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and financial account details.

Dartmouth denies any wrongdoing or legal violation, and no court has ruled that Dartmouth broke the law. Rather than continue litigating, both sides agreed to a $750,000 settlement to resolve the dispute.

The deal isn't final. A judge has granted preliminary approval, with a Final Approval Hearing set for November 5, 2026, payments will only go out once the settlement receives final court approval.

Eligibility hinges on whether you received an Email or Postcard Notice from Dartmouth or the settlement administrator. There are two possible payments: Cash Payment A reimburses documented out-of-pocket losses connected to the breach, up to $5,000 per person, and requires reasonable proof such as phone records, emails, or receipts. Cash Payment B is a pro rata payment estimated at $75 that doesn't require documentation, though the final amount could rise or fall depending on how many valid claims are filed.

A personal written statement alone won't satisfy the documentation requirement for Payment A, though it can support other evidence you submit. If a Claim Form is incomplete or gets rejected, claimants may get a chance to fix it, and the administrator may follow up for additional information if needed.
