Case overview
What is the Dental Intelligence settlement about?
Dental Intelligence, Inc. has agreed to a $5.75 million settlement resolving a class action lawsuit over its LocalMed Portal. The lawsuit claims that when users scheduled, changed, or rescheduled appointments through the portal, it collected their entered information and shared it with Google and other third parties without consent.
Dental Intelligence denies all wrongdoing and maintains that its practices followed industry standards and its platform's disclosures. The Court has not ruled on the merits of the case. Both sides chose to settle to avoid the uncertainty, expense, and delay of continued litigation. As part of the resolution, Dental Intelligence has also implemented new safeguards to prevent information submitted through the LocalMed Portal from being sent to Google.
The settlement is not yet final. A Final Approval Hearing is scheduled for March 25, 2027, where the Court will decide whether the deal is fair to the class. No payments will go out unless and until the Court grants final approval.
You may be eligible if you're a U.S. resident who used the LocalMed Portal between March 2022 and June 2025 to schedule, change, or reschedule an appointment, and your information was allegedly shared with a third party as a result. If you received a notice about this case, it's because Dental Intelligence's records show you used the LocalMed Portal to book with one of your providers.
Class members who submit a valid, timely claim will receive an equal, pro rata share of what remains in the settlement fund after deducting attorneys' fees and expenses of up to $1,916,666.67, service awards of up to $5,000 per Class Representative, and administrative costs. There are no payment tiers, and no set or estimated dollar amount has been disclosed, your eventual payout depends on the total number of valid claims submitted.
No supporting documents or proof of purchase are required to file a claim.
