Ferrara Candy Lawsuit Alleges Arsenic in NERDS, Laffy Taffy and Trolli

A new proposed nationwide class action, brought by plaintiff Christina Anstett, accuses Ferrara Candy Company of selling several well-known candies with arsenic levels far exceeding recommended annual consumption limits for children. The products named in the complaint include specific Black Forest Gummy Bears, Laffy Taffy, NERDS, Sweet Tarts, Sweet Tarts Ropes and Trolli gummy candies. The allegations stem from testing conducted by the State of Florida, which the lawsuit says revealed the elevated arsenic content. According to the complaint, Ferrara failed to ensure its products were safe, did not adequately monitor or eliminate toxic contaminants, and did not disclose the presence or risk of arsenic, despite marketing these candies to children. The case is still in its early stages, with no settlement yet reached.
