Furniture Mart Data Breach Settlement: Claim Up to $4,500 by Nov 3

This settlement stems from a November 2024 cyberattack on Furniture Mart, USA, Inc. (FMUSA). An unauthorized party allegedly accessed FMUSA's computer systems and certain files that may have contained personal information such as names, Social Security numbers, and dates of birth. FMUSA notified the people whose information may have been affected.

FMUSA denies any wrongdoing, and the court has not ruled on the merits. Both sides chose to settle to avoid the cost, risk, and delay of continued litigation. The court has granted preliminary approval, but a judge still must approve the settlement for good at a final hearing.

You may qualify if your personal information may have been involved in this breach. Most eligible people received a notice from FMUSA or the settlement administrator by email or mail. To participate, you must submit a Claim Form by the deadline, that's the only way to receive money or benefits from this settlement.

Everyone who files a valid claim can get three years of credit monitoring (CyEx Identity Defense Complete), which includes $1 million in identity theft insurance. You can also choose one cash option: reimbursement of up to $4,500 for documented out-of-pocket losses tied to the breach; compensation for lost time at $25 per hour for up to 4 hours (up to $100 total); or a flat, one-time $75 Alternative Cash Payment instead of the other two options. What you need to submit depends on which option you choose. Claims for documented losses require supporting proof, such as bank statements or receipts, handwritten notes alone won't be accepted. Claims for lost time require only a sworn statement describing how the time was spent, with no extra documentation needed. The flat $75 payment requires no proof or explanation at all.

To file online, log in using the LoginID and PIN printed at the top of the notice you received. Mailed and emailed notices also include a SIMID and CaseID. If you can't locate your LoginID and PIN, you can email the settlement administrator and request them by providing your full name and mailing address.
