NordVPN Class Action Lawsuit Seeks At Least $100 Million

A proposed class action lawsuit accuses Nord Security of trapping customers in automatically renewing NordVPN and related subscriptions through so-called "dark patterns" and unfair negative-option practices. According to the complaint, the company enrolled Virginia and North Carolina consumers in auto-renewing plans without clearly disclosing the terms or getting their real consent, then billed them again before their subscription periods ended. The lawsuit further claims Nord Security made it hard for users to cancel by hiding auto-renewal settings deep within the account portal and failing to send adequate notice emails warning of upcoming charges. No settlement has been reached, the case is still a proposed class action. It seeks injunctive relief along with at least $100 million in damages.
