Scribd Washington Pay Transparency Class Action Settlement: Up to $219

This case centers on how Scribd, Inc. wrote its job listings. Applicant John Milito sued the company, claiming its Washington job postings failed to include the wage scale or salary range, and/or a description of benefits and other compensation, as required under the state's pay transparency law, RCW 49.58.110.

Scribd denies any wrongdoing and maintains it broke no law. No court has ruled on the merits. Instead, both sides chose to settle, avoiding the expense and unpredictability of continued litigation while letting class members get paid sooner rather than after years of court proceedings.

The deal isn't final yet. A judge granted preliminary approval and cleared the way for notices to go out to the class, with a final approval hearing scheduled for January 15, 2027.

You may be covered if Scribd's records show you applied to at least one Washington job opening between January 1, 2023 and August 14, 2026, responding to a posting that allegedly omitted the required salary range and/or benefits details. Scribd identified 9,330 people who fit this description.

The process is simple: there's no claim form to submit. If the settlement receives final court approval and you don't opt out, a payment will be mailed to you automatically. Your one job is to make sure the Settlement Administrator has your correct mailing address on file, and to update it if it changes, an outdated address could mean a missed payment.
