Case overview
What is the Tenet Healthcare Corporation settlement about?
A proposed class action alleges that Tenet Healthcare used third-party tracking tools, sometimes called tracking pixels, on its websites in ways that violated certain privacy laws. Tenet Healthcare denies any wrongdoing, and no court has ruled on the claims. Both sides agreed to settle rather than continue litigating.
The deal is not yet final. A judge must still approve it at a Final Approval Hearing scheduled for January 14, 2027, and benefits will only be paid after approval and the resolution of any appeals.
You may be eligible if, between January 1, 2017, and September 18, 2023, you used a Tenet Healthcare website or patient portal (or one run by an affiliated covered entity) to set up a patient portal account, fill out a webform, or check in for urgent care or an ER visit. These "Online Platforms" include Tenet's websites, patient portals, the Healthelife app, and related web tools operated by or for Tenet. Class membership is determined using Tenet's own records.
There are two possible benefits, and you may be able to claim either or both. The first is a one-time $16.00 cash payment, with no proof or explanation required. The second is two years of CyEx Privacy Shield Pro, a service offering dark web monitoring, compromised password alerts, a VPN, a password manager, and other privacy tools, along with access to a fraud resolution agent if something suspicious comes up. Enrollment codes for this service were mailed to Class Members via postcard.
To receive the $16 payment, you must file a valid Claim Form by March 15, 2027. Doing nothing means forfeiting any benefits, while still giving up your right to sue Tenet Healthcare over the claims this settlement addresses.
To file online, you'll need the LoginID and PIN printed on the notice mailed to you. If those are missing, email the Settlement Administrator with your full name and mailing address to request them. If you misplaced your CyEx enrollment code, the Settlement Administrator can help with that too. There's also an Enrollment Instruction Request page, using the same LoginID and PIN, that will send a reminder email with enrollment steps once the settlement is finalized.
