Case overview
What is the Dunkin' case about?
Dunkin' launched a line of energy drinks called Dunkin' Zero on March 4, 2026, marketed as "zero sugar" beverages containing "0g of sugar", a claim the lawsuit says shows up in the product name, on menu boards, signage, the website, and ads.
But according to the complaint, that claim doesn't hold up. The lawsuit alleges every Dunkin' Zero drink is actually sweetened with allulose, a monosaccharide the plaintiff argues qualifies as sugar. Medium-sized drinks reportedly contain around 9 grams of allulose, while larges contain roughly 11 to 13 grams.
The case centers on consumers who bought these drinks specifically to limit or avoid sugar intake. The complaint argues that any reasonable buyer seeing "0g of sugar" on the label would expect a truly sugar-free product, and that this claim played a central role in their purchase decision.
The proposed class includes anyone who bought a Dunkin' Zero beverage, in any flavor or size, from a Dunkin' restaurant on or after March 4, 2026. Covered flavors include Blackberry Tangerine, Tropical Mango, Juicy Peach, Glamberry, Sunzest, Blushpop, Watermelon Lime, Splashberry, Heatwave, and Melon Paradise.
The plaintiff is pursuing claims under the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, along with breach of express warranty, negligent misrepresentation, and unjust enrichment. Dunkin' has not yet responded in court, and none of these allegations have been proven.
The plaintiff wants the court to certify the case as a class action and is seeking money damages, restitution, punitive damages, and an order forcing Dunkin' to stop or fix its "zero sugar" marketing, these are requests, not amounts any court has granted.
Since the lawsuit was just filed and no class has been certified, there's no claim form to fill out and nothing to do right now. If you've purchased these drinks, it may be worth hanging onto your receipts or payment records in case the case moves forward.
