Google to Pay $7.5 Million to Settle YouTube TV Auto-Renewal Class Action

Who may qualify?
Check the covered dates, products, locations, and other official terms before you file.
- You were in California when, between February 1, 2017 and October 29, 2021, you enrolled in and paid for at least one renewal term of a YouTube TV subscription.
- You purchased the subscription via YouTube billing for personal, family, or household purposes.
- You did not enroll in YouTube TV through an iOS mobile app from Apple’s App Store.
- Your subscription was not cancelled during a free trial.
- Your YouTube TV subscription was not fully refunded by the defendants.
- You are not an employee of YouTube or Google, and you are not the judge or Court staff on this case (these people are excluded).

What this settlement is about
This is a class action lawsuit called Dutcher v. Google LLC, et al., filed in the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara. The lawsuit claims that YouTube and Google did not follow all of the disclosure requirements of California’s automatic renewal law when they sold automatically renewing YouTube TV subscriptions. YouTube and Google deny all of the claims and say they did nothing wrong.
The Court has not decided who is right. Instead, both sides agreed to settle to avoid the cost and uncertainty of a trial. Google has agreed to pay $7,500,000.00 into a Settlement Fund, which will be used for cash payments to class members, a possible Service Award to the Class Representative, attorneys’ fees and expenses, and the costs of running the settlement. If money is left over after all payments, it goes to a non-profit approved by the Court, and none of it goes back to Google.
If the Court approves the settlement, participating class members will get a cash payment. The parties estimate each participating person will receive about $92.26, paid by check or electronic payment such as ACH, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or a Virtual Prepaid Card.
You do not need to provide proof to file. To get a payment, you must submit a valid Claim Form by August 30, 2026.
To check if you are included, you can look for a Notice sent to you by mail or email. The online claim form asks you to log in with a LoginID and PIN, which you can find on the Notice that was sent to you. If you cannot find your LoginID and PIN, you can contact the Settlement Administrator at info@YouTubeTVSettlement.com and request them by giving your full name and mailing address.
