Hershey Faces Reese's Lawsuit Over Pumpkin and Ghost Packaging

A proposed class action has been filed against The Hershey Company over how it packages several Reese's themed candies. The lead plaintiff, Jaimie Lane, alleges that the packaging for these products displays intricately carved designs, like pumpkin faces or ghost shapes, that don't actually show up on the candies themselves once opened.

The products named in the suit include Reese's Peanut Butter Pumpkins, Reese's White Pumpkins, Reese's Peanut Butter Ghosts, Reese's White Ghosts, Reese's Peanut Butter Bats, Reese's Peanut Butter footBalls, Reese's Medals, Reese's Pieces Pumpkins, and Reese's Peanut Butter Shapes. According to the lawsuit, this packaging misled shoppers into buying items they either wouldn't have purchased at all, or would have paid less for, had they known the candy didn't match what was shown on the box. No settlement has been reached at this stage.
