Honda and Acura Owners Say White Paint Peels and Bubbles

A group of Honda and Acura owners has filed suit against American Honda Motor Company Inc., alleging that certain vehicles from model year 2013 onward suffer from a paint defect affecting specific white finishes, including White Diamond Pearl, Taffeta White, White Orchid Pearl, and Bellanova White. The affected models reportedly include the Acura MDX, Honda Odyssey, Honda Pilot, Honda Fit, and Honda HR-V, with owners describing paint that peels, bubbles, and flakes over time.

According to the lawsuit, Honda was aware of the issue but never disclosed it to customers, leaving owners stuck either tolerating the damage or paying out of pocket for repainting. The plaintiffs' claims include fraudulent concealment, breach of warranty, and violations of consumer protection laws. They're seeking class action certification, damages, attorneys' fees, and a jury trial. Honda has pushed back in court, moving to dismiss some claims and, in at least one case, trying to force a plaintiff's dispute into private arbitration instead of litigation.
