Google Privacy Lawsuit: $425,651,947 Jury Verdict on App Tracking

A federal jury has ruled against Google in a class action lawsuit accusing the company of unlawfully collecting and storing user data from third-party apps, even for users who had turned off tracking through the "supplemental Web & App Activity" privacy setting. Jurors found Google liable for invasion of privacy and intrusion upon seclusion, awarding more than $425 million in compensatory damages covering 98 million cellphone users. The jury stopped short of finding grounds for punitive damages or ordering Google to give up its profits.
