Case overview
What is the Trader Joe’s Company case about?
A proposed class action filed on April 28, 2026 accuses Trader Joe's of misrepresenting its Low Acid Dark French Roast Coffee as a genuinely low-acid, fully caffeinated product. According to the complaint, testing found the coffee's acidity nearly matches that of regular coffee, while its caffeine content is less than half that of a standard blend. The lawsuit further alleges that Trader Joe's has known about the caffeine gap since at least February 2025, when competitor Puroast Coffee Company filed a lawsuit that put the company on notice, but has still not corrected its labeling.
