John Deere $99 Million Right to Repair Class Action Settlement

A lawsuit accuses John Deere of violating federal antitrust laws by withholding certain repair tools from customers and independent repair shops for its large agricultural equipment, allegedly forcing people to use Deere's authorized dealers and pay inflated prices for service. John Deere denies any wrongdoing, and no court has ruled on the claims. Instead, the two sides have reached a proposed settlement.

That settlement isn't final yet, a Fairness Hearing is scheduled for January 19, 2027, where the Court will decide whether to approve it. If approved, class members would receive two things: ongoing access to the digital tools needed to diagnose, maintain, and repair Deere large agricultural equipment without going through a Deere dealer, plus a share of settlement money for those who file a valid claim.

You may qualify if you paid John Deere or one of its authorized dealers for repair services on Deere large agricultural equipment in the United States between January 10, 2018 and May 18, 2026. The tool-access relief is automatic, no action needed. To receive a payment, though, you must file a claim by December 31, 2026, either online or by mailing a claim form to the Settlement Administrator.

Whether you'll need to submit documentation depends on your situation. Many repairs are already documented in records John Deere provided; if yours are among them, you'll get a notice by mail or email with a Notice ID and Confirmation Code letting you access that information, with no extra paperwork required. If your repairs aren't in that data, meaning you don't receive a notice with those codes, or if you think some qualifying repairs are missing, you'll need to submit your own records or documentation. Anyone claiming repairs performed under a purchased extended warranty must also include details of that warranty purchase; repairs covered by a Deere factory warranty don't qualify.

The Settlement Administrator may follow up requesting more information about a claim, and repairs left unverified because that information wasn't provided could be dropped from your payment.
